The Find and Replace tool allows you to find and replace text occurrences in the content of help topics and templates.

 

Also you can find text in topic and template titles, or use the Go To feature to search for any object within the help project. For example, you can find a topic with a specific Context Id or textual Id, an image with a specific filename, or a hyperlink linking to a specific topic or URL.

 

For quick access to the Find and Replace tool, you can press Ctrl+F.

 

Find Text in a Topic or Template


1.On the Project tab, in the Topics & Templates group, click Find Topic.

2.In the Find and Replace dialog, click the Find tab.

3.In the Find what box, enter the text you want to find.

4.Under the More/Less button, set search parameters. You can search all topics and templates or only the current topic or template, also you can set where the search should start from, and the word matching options.

5.Click Find Next to search for the next text occurrence.

Remark:

To search for the next text occurrence, you can press F3.

 

Replace Text in a Topic or Template


1.On the Project tab, in the Topics & Templates group, click Find Topic.

2.In the Find and Replace dialog, click the Replace tab.

3.In the Find what box, enter the text you want to find.

4.In the Replace with box, enter the text you want to replace the found text with.

5.Under the More/Less button, set search and replace parameters. You can search all topics and templates or only the current topic or template, also you can set where the search should start from, and the word matching options. Checking the Prompt on replace option allows you to allow or cancel each replacement.

6.Click Replace or Replace All to find and replace the next text occurrence, or to replace all text occurrences respectively.

Find a Topic or Template by Title


1.On the Project tab, in the Topics & Templates group, click Find Topic.

2.In the Find and Replace dialog, click the Find Topic tab.

3.In the Full or part title box, enter the text you want to find.

4.Under the More/Less button, set search parameters.

5.Click Find Next.

Find a Topic by Context or Id


1.On the Project tab, in the Topics & Templates group, click Find Topic.

2.In the Find and Replace dialog, click the Go To tab.

3.In the Go to what box, select Topic.

4.In the Go to by box, set if you want to find a topic by its Context or Id.

5.Specify the required Context or Id value that you want to find.

6.Click Go To.

Find a Hyperlink, Bookmark, Image, or Another Object


1.On the Project tab, in the Topics & Templates group, click Find Topic.

2.In the Find and Replace dialog, click the Go To tab.

3.In the Go to what box, select the object that you want to find (for example, a hyperlink, bookmark, image, etc.).

4.On the right side, specify the required object's parameters (if available).

5.Click Next.
